Meet Our Staff
Rev. W. Alan Froggatt, Jr Senior Minister
Blessings and Peace to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!
As the Senior Minister at Second Congregational Church in Beverly, I welcome you to our church's home on the web. The fact that you could easily spend a few hours here with us, perusing sermons, learning about mission activities or exploring our church school program, just to name a few areas of our web page, attests to the wealth of activity here at Second Church. We are blessed with a wonderful facility that is in constant use by our congregation, by our community, and by the Beacon Christian Academy. And we are more than blessed by a congregation that is also in constant motion, working together to serve our God, and to serve our world in God's name.
I come to Second Church by a somewhat circuitous route. I was born and raised in Meriden, Connecticut; attended Barrington College in Rhode Island, and Princeton Theological Seminary in New Jersey. My first parish was way up on the northwest corner of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, hard by Lake Superior, in the town of Calumet, at the Community Church of Calumet, dually aligned with the United Church of Christ and the United Presbyterian Church. After four years on the U.P., I was called to the Bridgewater Congregational Church in western Connecticut, which I was privileged to serve for nearly sixteen years. Then in June of 2000, God's call came to me through the good people of north Beverly, and since September 1, 2000 I have been blessed to serve in this parish.
Second Church is a true family-oriented congregation. Our young people are a significant and vital part of our ministry, which means that people of all ages work together in a variety of activities and service opportunities. When Paul wrote of the body of Christ, “When one member suffers together, all suffer together, and when one member rejoices together, all rejoice together,” he could have been writing about Second Church. The warmth of relationship and the depth of commitment to each other mean that this is a sensitive and caring group of Christian people.
So I invite you to spend some time with our church family. Spend time with us here on the web; spend time with us in worship Sunday mornings at 9:30; spend time with us as we minister to our community in local mission; spend time with us as we serve God's people in our world mission. We're always glad to have you be with us, as we endeavor to share God's love and Christ's blessing with all the children of creation!

Ms. Mary Jane Clark, Parish Administrator
Mary Jane Clark is responsible for the many groups that use the church facility. Primary focus is on keeping the operation of our church programs running smoothly by supporting the church staff and members as needed. She views her position as that of problem-solver/trouble shooter for over twenty-five years, but most important, hers is the first welcoming presence to greet visitors to the church office. When asked about her responsibilities, she good-naturedly replies that her tasks run the gamut from keeping parishioners informed through monthly newsletter or ordering maintenance supplies and everything in between. Mary Jane has been an active member of our faith community for the past thirty-nine years.
