Youth Programs

There are two youth groups at Second Congregational Church: Junior High Youth is for Middle Schoolers (grades 6-8), and Senior High Youth is for High Schoolers (grades 9-12). As with all church activities these follow the guidelines of Safe Church Policy.

Junior High Youth Group

The Junior High Youth Group meets every Sunday following Church. The program is a combination of service, discussion, faith formation, and fun. This group has served at the homeless shelter, fasted to raise money for hunger, gone bowling, and participated in Bible Study. There are overnights and adventures. Most importantly there is a community in which they can get to know themselves and learn how to be followers of Jesus.

Senior High Youth Group

The Senior High Youth Group combines service, discussion, faith formation, and fun. This group has served at the homeless shelter, traveled to Boston to learn about the issues of homelessness. Biannually this group takes an international mission trip to the Casa San Jose de los Huerfanos, an orphanage that works with children from Mexico. They are embodying what it means to put faith into action.

Youth Retreats

Both Youth Groups have participated in retreats and lock-ins. Whether we are staying in the church at a lock-in for fun or fasting to raise money for the hungry, going to Boston to learn about homelessness, or exploring creation at Grotonwood, we are deepening our bonds with one another and with God.
